About our choir

The Vocal Ensemble Rivierenland builds on the musical tradition of the Tiels Vocaal Ensemble and continues to develop in a new phase. Under the direction of conductor Stijn Bruning, the ensemble works towards performances of a high musical standard, with room for further growth and renewal.    The repertoire focuses on modern choral music with an emphasis on sound, atmosphere and expression, balancing stillness and accessibility, ranging from contemporary works to arrangements of traditional repertoire such as carols.    A key characteristic of the ensemble is its ability to convey a wide range of musical styles and atmospheres convincingly. From quiet, transparent soundscapes to more rhythmic and energetic repertoire, the ensemble seeks expression, balance and musical depth.    The ensemble rehearses every two weeks in Tiel and works in seasonal cycles towards concerts, such as Christmas concerts at the end of the year. This approach allows for focus, flexibility and targeted musical development.    The Vocal Ensemble Rivierenland welcomes singers with choral experience who are willing to prepare their music independently.
