About our choir

Kvinnekoret Kvitre vart stifta i 2015 av heimvende sunnfjordingar som sakna korsongen frå studenttida. Koret består av 30 dedikerte kvinner mellom 25 og 55 år. Vi syng alt frå viser og bruremarsjar til pop og jazz, og har etter kvart opparbeidd oss eit variert og rikt repertoar frå inn- og utland.     Gro Gunnarson dirigerte Kvitre frå 2015 til 2021. Noverande dirigent Beth Ramfjord har leia Kvinnekoret Kvitre sidan våren 2022. Ramfjord har bakgrunn som dirigent for ei rekke studentkor og er utdanna innan musikk og drama.    Det viktigaste for oss er gleda i å skape musikk saman, og vi ønskjer at Kvitre skal vere eit varmt, inkluderande og hyggjeleg kor å syngje i. Samstundes jobbar vi hardt og har som mål å alltid strekkje oss litt lenger for å auke kvaliteten vår, og for å nå nye musikalske mål. I 2024 deltok vi i ein korkonkurranse for første gong, og kom på ein gjev 2.plass i klassen for kvinnekor i Grieg International Choir Festival.    Vi held normalt to konsertar i året - vårkonsert og julekonsert - og tek meir enn gjerne på oss oppdrag av ulike slag. Send oss gjerne ei melding!    --------------    The women's choir Kvitre was established in 2015 and today it consists of 30 committed women aged 25 to 55. The choir has a rich and varied repertoire, with songs from many genres such as folk tunes, pop, jazz and everything in between.    For the past two years, the choir has been led by conductor Beth Ramfjord, who challenges the choir to constantly try new musical expressions. Ramfjord has a background as a conductor from a number of student choirs and is educated in music and drama.    Most important of all is the joy in creating music together, and we want Kvitre to be a warm, inviting and cheerful choir to sing in. At the same time, we are hardworking and constantly striving to increase quality and reach our musical goals. In 2024 we participated in a choir competition for the first time, and we came second in the category for female voices in Grieg International Choir Competition.     Kvitre regularly holds two concerts a year and otherwise participates in events and takes on commissions.
