Nova Tempora Choir is a young choir, born in June 2021, in the sunny, seaside city of Sanremo, in western Liguria, Italy.   It consists of approximately 30 singers of different geographic origins, grouped in a four section structure of sopranos altos tenors and basses.   Nova Tempora is an amateur choir, springing from the need of a group of friends, to share their passion for singing and choral music.   Its priority is the spreading of musical culture throughout the territory in which its members live, and convey emotions and enthusiasm to the audience.     The choir is led by the Director Gabriella Costa, an internationally renowned and experienced soprano and Professor, currently serving on the Vocal Arts faculty of both Reggio Emilia and La Spezia Music High School and University. She teaches Classical Voice Art Song and Pronunciation for singers in foreign languages.   Gabriella pays particular attention to the care of vocal technique, and under her guidance, the choir has grown both in its ability to perform and in the variety of its repertoire, ranging from the sacred music repertoire of the great classical composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Gounod, Buxtehude, Vivaldi, T. Luis de Victoria, to more contemporary pieces by Karl Jenkins and Ola Gjeilo.     In the same year of its birth, 2021, Nova Tempora Choir was invited to perform Mozart’s Requiem with the worldwide renowned Sanremo Symphony Orchestra and since then, there have been numerous collaborations with instrumental groups and choirs from abroad, last of which the Danish choir 'The Beached Whales'. On May 14th a memorable double choir performance with the Danish choir, directed by the composer Mikkel Gomard, was held at the Lutheran Church of Sanremo. The concert was a resounding success and excited spirits.     Nova Tempora concerts are a musical journey. We enjoy connecting people of all backgrounds thanks to the magnificence of choral music.  The rich powerful energy of the choir is always met with great interest in full churches and concert halls, and often we even like to involve our audience in our performances.     Our next event will be in France on the 6th of January.   We’ll be performing in the charming perched village of Tourrette-Levens, near Nice, France, at a New Year’s concert, whose program features a special Italian Operatic repertoire. We're so excited as this will be our operatic debut! Don’t miss us!
